Various Gay Myths

Introduction

In an effort to offer the best content while also sharing the truth in love, I have decided to post a link to a well-written item by Dr James Dobson from Focus On The Family. Here are the section titles, condensed, if you don't want to read the entire document:
  1. A myth says that 10% of the American population is gay.  However, the facts show that only 1-3% of our population could be considered exclusively homosexual.
  2. A myth states that homosexuals are born gay.  However, the facts show that there is no evidence to support this claim.
  3. A myth states that homosexual relationships are no different than heterosexual ones.  However, the facts show that homosexual male relationships are rarely monogamous, and those involved are more at risk for life-threatening illnesses.
  4. A myth states that AIDS is as much of a risk for heterosexuals as it is for homosexuals.  However, the facts show that, according to the Centers for Disease Control, homosexual men are a thousand times more likely to contract AIDS than the general male heterosexual population.
  5. A myth states that homosexuals are normal, healthy, everday people.  However, the facts show that, contrary to claims made by gay activists, homosexually active persons as a group appear to be less psychologically healthy than the general population.
  6. A myth states that the Bible doesn't condemn homosexuality, only promiscuity.  However, the facts show that God clearly condemns any sexual act outside of heterosexual marriage.
  7. A myth states that lesbian relationships are healthier than gay male relationships.  However, the facts show that lesbian relationships are equally unhealthy, and just as life-threatening as gay male relationships.
  8. A myth states that homosexuality is unchangeable.  However, the facts show that there is freedom from homosexuality.

Conclusion

Please read the link.  Dr. Dobson does a better job at explaining than I do.  The link also goes into why we care.  We care because God loves us and wants what's best for us.  He also wants us to repent so that He can forgive us: God seeks to have a loving relationship with us, His creation.
